MAP - Malaysian Aspiration Program
Malaysian Aspiration Program, better known as MAP (pronounced as map), is an uniquely student-run Malaysian intelelctual organisation in Australia. MAP is the intellectual arm of the Malaysian Students’ Council of Australia, Victoria (MASCA Victoria) based in Melbourne. With over 8,000 Malaysian students in the state of Victoria alone and 22,000 in Australia, MAP plays a pivotal role in promoting intellectual discourse, particularly on the challenges faced by Malaysia. MAP aims to nurture young university students to be critical-minded future leaders of Malaysia. As the name suggests, MAP aspires for a better Malaysia.
As a platform for exchange of ideas between students, MAP organises various activities including dialogue sessions (Straight From Malaysia Series), round table public discussions (Aspirasi Rakyat Malaysia – ARM), an engaging and fun gameshop on activism (YAG Gameshop) and a national gathering of student leaders across Australia (Malaysian Aspiration Summit). The MAP Action Group or MAG will consequently pursue the objectives of each event to achieve tangible outcomes. While still a young organisation, MAP is determined to encourage and empower the youth to take the initiative at an early stage of their personal development to ultimately play in a role in contributing for the future of Malaysia. Malaysian Aspiration Program also acts an instrument to engage with the Australian community and our ASEAN-Australia student counterparts in Australia – aligned with the ASEAN Australia Agenda. As the adage ‘no man is an island’ goes, we believe the success of Malaysia as a nation lies in its interaction with ASEAN at a regional level and the rest of the world, including Australia.
